Celebrating UVic’s #1 Research Ranking
ASAsoft® is proud to share news from our composite insulator research partner, the University of Victoria (UVic). UVic has been ranked first in Canada for research impact and second overall among mid-sized universities in the Maclean’s University Rankings 2027.
This recognition reflects the strength of UVic’s research community across many disciplines, and as a Canadian cleantech company, we proudly partner with UVic as research partners, and we celebrate the national recognition their research has earned. Rankings like this highlight the value of strong partnerships between industry and academic research, and we are glad to be part of that wider effort.
Our polymer insulator research collaboration
Our ongoing composite insulator research with UVic spans surface characterization, accelerated ageing testing, and predictive maintenance. In particular, these areas support the reliability and long-term performance of the materials used in modern electrical grids. Together, they reflect a shared interest in advancing the science behind grid modernization.
For example, surface characterization helps us understand how insulator materials change over time. In addition, accelerated ageing testing provides controlled conditions to study that change more quickly. Research into predictive maintenance ultimately supports longer service life and more refined asset planning. Collaborations of this kind allow us to connect our work to ongoing academic research in the field. Additionally, they assist the grid industry by providing a clearer understanding of how composite insulators perform in service.
Looking ahead
Overall, this collaboration strengthens our positioning as a Canadian cleantech company advancing grid modernization. We congratulate UVic on this achievement and are proud to continue our partnership.
